How to apply for a mortgage

You can apply for a mortgage in the following ways:

Online

Step 1 – Application for a Decision in Principle (DIP)

We will ask you for specific information following which we will provide you with a decision about the amount of loan which could be available to you.

An application for a DIP involves the Society carrying out a credit check on you. You can use the lending decision to proceed to Step 2. The DIP is not a cost quotation for a particular mortgage product, which will instead be provided to you in the form of the Key Facts Illustration (KFI) later in the process.

You can get an online DIP if you are:

  • a first time buyer/s (someone who has never owned a property)
  • a new or existing customer(s) moving house
  • re-mortgaging your home

Step 2 – Telephone appointment

One of our Mortgage Team will contact you to book a telephone appointment with a qualified mortgage and insurance adviser, who will advise which of our current mortgage products is most suitable for your needs, provide you with a KFI and assist you in making a full mortgage application. Alternatively you can visit your local branch.
